TBF® 300S

TBF® 300S is a rapid test for detection of microbial biofilms on surfaces. Biofilm growth spots can be identified selectively in a short time with a simple procedure. TBF® 300S is suitable for routine use in surface hygiene control after cleaning and disinfection procedures.

TBF® 300S is available in 120 ml spray bottles for easier application on surfaces.

TBF® 300S contains biological dyeing agents selected for their capacity for staining biofilms formed by different bacterial species. Biofilm staining is visible at a glance, no specific equipment or specialized personnel are required. TBF® 300S selectively stains biofilms formed by bacteria such as Pseudomonas fluorescens, Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureurs, Salmonella enteritidis and Listeria monocytogenes,
among others. Dye components irreversibly stain the biofilm expolymeric matrix, staining is not dependant on the bacterial species in the biofilm.

The staining agents in TBF® 300S have been tested in the presence of common food residues, in order to prevent undesirable interferences. Food residues such as milk, fat and lean meat are not stained by TBF® 300S.

TBF® 300S contains surfactants, thickeners and stabilizers for easier application of the product and longer retention time on surfaces. TBF® 300S is water soluble, easy to rinse away with water except where biofilm spots have been formed.

TBF® 300S is applied for identification of biofilm growth spots on surfaces. Thanks to its ease of use, TBF® 300S is a suitable tool for routine hygiene control on surfaces, in combination with other techniques such plate contact and bioluminiscence measure.

Application of TBF® 300S after cleaning and disinfection applications enables identification of spots with residual biofilm contamination which require a specific decontamination procedure.

TBF® 300S should be applied on horizontal surfaces made of non-porous materials (stainless steel, aluminium, etc.).

TBF® 300S should be applied on horizontal surfaces made of non-porous materials (stainless steel, aluminium, etc.).

1. Select a test area to sample, representative of the surface to be assessed. An area of at least 10 cm2 on a horizontal surface is recommended for product application.

2. Apply TBF® 300S by spraying the product over the sample surface.

3. Allow a minimum contact time of 5 minutes.

4. Rinse the surface with water and check the presence of residual staining on the surface. Residual staining (fuchsia) after rinsing shows possible biofilm presence.

TBF® 300S should be applied in small, controlled doses, using protective gloves to avoid contact with the skin.
This product should not be applied on porous surfaces that can be irreversibly stained (wood, fabric, carton, etc.). In case of doubt, apply a small amount of product on a test surface and check if the product is rinsed.

Rinse waters can contain high amounts of dye and can therefore stain non-compatible surfaces during drainage.
